BIOGRAPHY 
 
STEVE PICKERING has appeared in 27 productions at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, including Robert Falls’ Tony Award-Winning production of DEATH OF A SALESMAN in Chicago, on Broadway, on National Tour, and for the Showtime network. Regional credits include shows at Old Globe, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Arena Stage, and New York’s Public Theatre.

Formerly the Artistic Director of the Next Theatre in Evanston, IL, he serves as Project Director for Shanghai Low Theatricals, an adaptation development group based in Chicago.

Currently, he is adapting Lillian Ross’ book PICTURE for the stage, and Max Brand’s novella, THE STRANGE RIDE OF PERRY WOODSTOCK into a screenplay for Bagley Productions, Ltd.

His Fall production of Manfred Karge’s CONQUEST OF THE SOUTH POLE, Odyssey Theatre Ensemble was Recommended by the Los Angeles Times, chosen Critic’s Pick by Backstage West, and nominated for two LA Weekly Awards. Last season, his critically acclaimed production of Bill Buford’s AMONG THE THUGS at the Odyssey received 2 Backstage West Awards, 3 LA Drama Critic Circle Awards, and 3 LA Weekly Awards, including Best Direction.

In 1997, he was named Chicago Magazine Actor of the Year.
