BIOGRAPHY
JOAN WASHINGTON trained as a voice teacher at the Central School of
Speech and Drama. She has been the regular dialect coach for the Royal Court
and National theatres for the past twenty years, where recent credits
include EDMOND, MOURNING BECOMES ELEKTRA and HIS DARK MATERIALS. She has
coached on a number of Arthur Miller plays including – THE PRICE (Young
Vic), ALL MY SONS (National Theatre) THE CRUCIBLE (National Theatre and RSC),
RIDE DOWN MOUNT MORGAN (West End). Recent West End credits include THE GOAT,
SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER. CALICO and GUYS AND DOLLS. Her extensive work in
television includes THE SINGING DETECTIVE, MIDDLEMARCH, SCARLET, OUR FRIENDS
FROM THE NORTH and DANIEL DERONDA. She has worked as dialogue coach on over
forty films, most recently ONEGIN, 101 DALMATIONS, CAPTAIN CORRELLI’S
MANDOLIN, CHARLOTTE GRAY, IN MY COUNTRY, STAGE BEAUTY and RIVER QUEEN.
