BIOGRAPHY
MARK WENDLAND: SCENIC DESIGNER
Mark Wendland made his Broadway debut on the Tony Award winning revival of
Death of a Salesman, directed by Robert Falls which originated at the
Goodman Theatre in Chicago.
Other New York work includes Iron at Manhattan Theatre Club directed
by Anna Shapiro, Henry V in Central Park (2003), directed by Mark
Wing-Davey, Suzan Lori Parks' "Fucking A" directed by Michael Greif
at The Public, An Almost Holy Picture directed by Michael Mayer at
Roundabout, Cymbeline in Central Park (1998) directed by Andrei
Serban and many other productions at The Public, Playwrights Horizons, The
Vineyard Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, Atlantic Theatre Company and
CSC.
US regional work includes scenic and costume designs for Guthrie Theatre,
Mark Taper Forum, The La Jolla Playhouse, Steppenwolf, Denver Center,
Trinity Rep, Alley Theatre, San Francisco Opera, Long Beach Opera, McCarter
Theatre and many others.
Through his long association with The La Jolla Playhouse, Mr. Wendland was
awarded a 1998 National Theatre Artist Residency Grant administered by
Theatre Communications Group and funded by Pew Charitable Trusts. He was the
Production Designer for 6 promotional spots for TNT's coverage of the 2003
NBA Playoffs directed by Spike Lee.
Upcoming projects include Best of Both Worlds at The Women's Project,
Sabina at Primary Stages, Paula Vogel's Hot 'n Throbbing at
Signature and Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge at The Gate
Theatre in Dublin.
