BIOGRAPHY
RICHARD WOODBURY: COMPOSER AND SOUND DESIGNER
Richard Woodbury's credits include music and sound design for critically
acclaimed Broadway productions of: A Long Day's Journey Into Night, A
Moon for the Misbegotten, Death of a Salesman and The Young Man from
Atlanta. He has also designed sound for New York productions of lue
Surge, The Night of the Iguana, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Wings and
Unidentified Human Remains...
Chicago credits include music and/or sound design for Finishing the
Picture, The Goat: or Who is Sylvia, Lobby Hero, A Long Day's Journey Into
Night, Blue Surge, House, Garden, Griller, Arcadia, Another Midsummer Night,
Three Sisters, A Little Night Music and others for the Goodman Theatre;
as well as I Just Stopped By to See The Man, Hysteria, The Beauty Queen
of Leenane, The Memory of Water, The Libertine, Time of My Life, Talking
Heads, Libra and others for the Steppenwolf Theatre.
In Los Angeles he has composed original music and/or designed sound for:
I Just Stopped By to See The Man , Boy Gets Girl, God's Man in Texas and
The Weir at the Geffen Playhouse. Richard has also composed numerous
scores for dance and various commercial projects. He is the recipient of the
Ruth Page Award for "Outstanding Collaborative Artist" the Helen Hayes Award
for "Outstanding Sound Design" and several Joseph Jefferson and Drama Desk
Award nominations for both music and sound design.
Richard is a faculty member at Columbia College Chicago, serving as Music
Director in the Dance Department.
